Dr. Karen Sherman, owner of Oak View Animal Clinic, was raised in Pineville, Mo., and received an animal science degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Louisiana State University, School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Sherman has lived in Pea Ridge since 1990 and has a Shih Tzu named Shadd, a Great Dane named Brutus, a cat named P.M., three miniature horses, and a pet cow named Roxeanne. Along with managing the business, she is active in many local organizations and veterinary organizations. Dr. Sherman’s hobbies include swimming, walking her dogs, observing many forms of wildlife, and visiting with friends.
Dr. Mia Winters joined our team in June 2002 after graduating from Louisiana State University, School of Veterinary Medicine. A resident of Northwest Arkansas since 1992, she currently resides in Pea Ridge with her three cats Caution, Hazard, and Danger. She has one dog named Nate. Dr. Winters enjoys hiking, canoeing, camping, boating, and reading.
Sandy Walker, receptionist and office coordinator, joined the team at Oak View Animal Clinic in August 1999. Sandy loves to greet our clients and their pets. She lives on a farm just outside of Pea Ridge with her husband Franklin. They have beef cattle on their farm, a donkey named Jack Onery, and a 20-year-old llama named Majic. Sandy’s family has a cat named Orie that lets them live in her house. Sandy and Franklin have three grown children, who live in the Pea Ridge area, and eight grandchildren. Sandy just retired as a Girl Scout leader after 28 years of service.
Michelle Ewan, registered veterinary technician, joined the staff at Oak View Animal Clinic in September 2001. A native of Southwest Missouri, Michelle graduated in 2000 from Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City, Mo. She and her son Derrick live in Anderson, Mo., with their two dogs, Wyatt and Newly, and a cat, Dillon. Michelle also has three registered quarter horses and enjoys riding and showing in Western events. Michelle’s other hobbies include swimming, going to the lake, spending time with family, and attending her son’s football games.
Sara Martfeld, veterinary assistant, has been with Oak View Animal Clinic since 1995. She is a lifelong resident of Northwest Arkansas and has lived in Pea Ridge with her husband Chris for 20 years. They have four grown children and two grandchildren. Sara shares her home with two birds, one cat, and a squirrel. Her hobbies include reading and fishing, and she also enjoys spending time with her family and pets.
Jennifer Foster, veterinary assistant, joined the staff at Oak View Animal Clinic in February 2003. A native of Northwest Arkansas, she currently resides in Pea Ridge with her husband Henry and their four children. Jennifer has two dogs, Big Boy and Angel, and three raccoons, Dora, Taz, and Neeko. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys going to the movies and being with her family.
Shandra Freeston, veterinary assistant, has been with the staff of Oak View Animal Clinic since March 2007. Shandra is a lifelong resident of Bentonville. She and her husband Cameron have four children and share their home with two dogs, Buddy and Spritzer, and one cat named Mister T. Shandra enjoys spending her free time surrounded by family and friends.
